How Often Should You Post On Social Media For Maximum Business Results?

How often should you post on Social Media to get the most engagement and most eyeballs on your posts?

That’s the million dollar question right?

Well, I think that question is one part of the equation and the second part, and most importantly, is what you’re posting on social media.

We're going to cover both of these questions because they go hand in hand and will help you get the best results on social media.

In this episode of Tanya Aliza TV, I'm going to reveal to you the foundational formula that will stand the test of time on ALL of the social media platforms regardless of how many times the algorithm changes.

With every Episode of Tanya Aliza TV, I like to empower you with a POWERFUL free resource that you can implement right away and create results fast in your business.

This week since we are talking all about how often to post, what to post, all things social media, I want to wrap that up with a big red bow and give you My Social Media Posting Map and schedule. You can print it out, keep it beside you at your desk and use it when you go to implement your social media strategy each week. You can download it by clicking below.

There’s two things I know for sure that most Entrepreneurs DON’T want.

1. They don’t want to be glued to their computer all day
2. They DON’T want to spend money on a social media marketing manager, if they aren’t doing it right

So before we talk about how often to post on Social Media I want to dissect the first thing that is most important, which is the four categories of things that you should think about revolving your content around.

Then once you have this dialed in, you can start thinking about how often, because less is more, if you’re posting the RIGHT type of content on Social Media.

Types of content to post on Social Media - #1 Education

You need to educate your audience so that they see you as a valuable, resourceful person.

This is how you will build a relationship with them that will lead to them liking and trusting you.

So, start thinking about the types of things that you can educate your audience with that will serve their needs and congruently lead into a great recommendation or suggestion into your product, service, or business.

I'll give you an example in weight loss. But this applies to any industry.

If you're in weight loss, you know that you have an audience that’s looking to shed pounds, to trim up, to get lean, to get sexy and fit.

So, what kinds of things can you post about that are going to be entertaining and interesting to somebody that's in that frame of mind?

They would be things like healthy recipes, fitness tips, money saving tips when it comes to losing weight, time saving tips when it comes to losing weight etc…

Start thinking about all sorts of little tips and resources and education that you can share with your audience that they will find valuable.

Types of content to post on Social Media - #2 Lifestyle or entertainment

People come to Social Media to be entertained.

They go to platforms like YouTube or Google to be educated but they primarily get on Social Media to be entertained.

So, what can you entertain your audience with that has to do with the mindset that they're in?

Using the example of weight loss again, here are some things you’ll want to post about.

✓Lifestyle posts that are related to health and fitness.

✓Before and after pictures

✓Testimonials of people that have lost the weight using your products

✓Weight loss and health topics that are informative and educational

✓Posts that are about your weight loss journey

✓Sharing stories of other people’s weight loss journey or story

✓Funny posts about the struggles with weight loss

✓Quotes that are funny or inspiring for those trying to lose weight

Types of content to post on Social Media - #3 Funny stories

Think about the kind of stuff that goes viral super fast on social media.

It's typically the most ridiculous, funny things, right?

And when we get a good laugh we want our audience or our friends & family on social media to join in on the chuckle we just had.

So post things that, for example, someone who is on the journey of losing weight would find funny or useful.

If you make your audience laugh and feel good, they will be more likely to engage with all of your other posts because they associate you with someone who makes them feel good overall.

Types of content to post on Social Media - #4 Promotion

By now you’re probably wondering "When do I promote my products, business or services?"

I follow the 80:20 rule that I talk about all the time.

80% of your content should be the other three categories and then your 20% falls into the fourth category of promotion or selling.

But, you want to make sure that you do your promotional stuff in a way where you're sharing benefits of what your product can do for people or your service, or your business.

You want to lead with the benefit.

You're not talking about what it is or the ingredients or anything like that.

You're talking about what it does for people.

And then, maybe share a couple of stories. Maybe your story or somebody else's story and then have a call to action for people to reach out to learn more.

You're never going to share your company name or you're never going to share your company products with people, you're going to ask for them to reach out to you to get that information.

So there you have it. Make sure 20% of the time you are doing direct promotions like Facebook Lives where you’re telling people to reach out to you to learn more about your product, service, or business.

How often should you post on social media to make the algorithm work for you?

Now that you know how to post the right stuff, you need a little bit of a schedule so that you know that you're warming up the algorithms so more people see your posts on Social Media.

So let’s talk algorithms because it’s not as hard or mysterious as most people think.

Facebook and Instagram and all other Social Media platforms have an algorithm that you need to follow in order to get maximum exposure for your posts.

And because everyone's audience and business is different, it requires some testing.

Testing is how you’ll find out the best times to post on Social Media.

So what you’ll want to do is post at least once a day and it’s going to be a post from one of the four category type posts I just shared with you.

It doesn't matter which one, but you want to do one of four.

And the best way to hack the algorithm and post at the best time is to think about your audience and when they'll most likely be on social media to take action on the posts that you're doing.

How often should you post on social media to find the best time to post

So let’s say your audience is stay-at-home moms.

You might want to think about posting during the day when most small children nap.

So let’s say one day you test at 12 pm and then another day you test at 1pm.

And you can test on different days because your audience might be more engaged on the weekdays vs the weekend.

You’ll want to do this consistently every day until you can go back and see which post got the most engagement.

Then, you’ll want to take a look at the time and day where your posts got the most engagement.

That will tell you what the best time to post on Social Media will be for you and your business.

How often should you post on social media for your promotional content

Then, what I would suggest is one day per week do a major promotion.

When I say major promotion I mean doing a Facebook Live or an Instagram Live…depending on where your audience is.

This is where you’ll talk about the benefits of a certain product or service that you're promoting for that week and then you ask for people to reach out to you to learn more.

So, one major promotion every single week.

And stay consistent with it because consistency is key.

Plus, you’ll want to condition your audience to know when you’re showing up and what they're going to expect.

Over the years I’ve designed Tuesday with Tanya Live which is my Facebook Live broadcast where I go live every Tuesday at 8:00 PM EST. My audience knows this, they know what to expect and they know where to go to show up live with me.

I suggest you have some fun with it by naming it something fun.

It could be Money Mindset Monday or Wealth Wednesday or Weight Loss Wednesday or Skincare Saturday Morning.

Whatever it might be, try to have a little bit of fun with it. Brand that out and condition your audience to know when to expect you and what they're going to get.

How often should you post on Social Media - In Closing

Remember, it's not necessarily how often but how consistent you are every day.

If you're posting every day crappy content, it's just never going to work.

You have to combine consistency with good posts, if you want Social Media to work for your business.

And if you want to see good examples of what to post on Social Media then make sure you download My Social Media Posting Map that I’ve created for you to help you even more with this.
