I put together this Network Marketing training post because I've had a lot of people ask me - Do You Lead with the Product or the Business when talking to your prospects?
I’ve been in Network Marketing since 2009 and in my journey, I went from 'super struggle' to top recruiter in our company over the last few years... but, this doesn’t come without our fair share of prospecting and testing out a lot of network marketing training strategies.
I have tried, tested, and now know what works in the prospecting world when it comes to leading with the product or business. It's important to know that there's not one single right way to prospecting... it truly depends on your prospect. But, I can tell you it starts with asking the right questions.
Today’s topic was actually inspired from an email I recently got. Someone emailed me and said "Tanya, I’ve been on your blog, I’ve watched your videos, and I absolutely love your stuff, but I noticed you don’t actually share your products on your blog. Is there a reason for that?"
Instead of just replying back to that email, I decided I would share with a little network marketing training and why I market the way that I do, what I say to get prospects asking me for more information, and how it has helped my business.
When you're doing online marketing vs offline marketing, things are a little bit different, but the end goal is the same. Does your prospect what to learn more about your product OR opportunity?
Take for example, when you're out and about meeting people and let's say you're at a restaurant. You might meet a waiter or waitress that you enjoy their service and you want to ask them if they're open to learning more about working with you.
What do you say?
You want to ask them a series of questions and ultimately listen to them and go in the direction that serves your prospect best.
This is true online as well - if you’re doing active social media marketing, you want to make sure you're always asking questions, listening and then taking the path that will best serve them.
“What is your long term plan? What are you aspiring to do?”
When I ask this, I’m listening for some key words to let me know if they're better fit for my products or they have an entrepreneur mindset and I can see if they are a good fit for my business.
Unfortunately, most companies won't include this in their Network Marketing Training because it's not a mass market training topic...it's more of a leadership training topic.
When you're building your business online, first you need to decide your brand direction.
This is really What Do You Want To Be Known For?
If you're in health and wellness, you can be the fitness coach or expert or you can go opportunity direction and focus on lifestyle and showing what is possible as an Entrepreneur.
For me, I wanted to serve my audience with an Entrepreneur & Lifestyle message instead of being the product expert.... it was just my personal decision.
Remember, the next time you meet someone that seems like they might be a great fit for your product or business, ask them questions from this week’s Freebie to qualify them based on their answers.
Make sure to LISTEN to what you're prospects are telling you when they respond to your questions and - Please, Please, Please, for the love of god, LISTEN and talk very little.
You'll know what best serves them with just asking a few of these questions and how to confidently move them to the next step. They will respond better and you will have an easier time adding a new member to your team!
Our job is to collect as much information from our prospects so we can make our presentation about THEM. This will help your closing and sign up ratios BIG TIME.
