Having a team name that rocks and branding that team name instead of your network marketing companies name can have an attention-grabbing effect on your prospects and improve your prospecting efforts.
If you pair that up with a great mission statement, it’s even more powerful and a great way to become a magnet for prospects wanting to join you.

The purpose of creating a team name is not just for the sake of having a cool team name and that’s it. Its purpose is to have it serve you when you’re prospecting.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my prospecting tips are a bit unconventional. I’m really big on branding YOU and not your network marketing company name or products.
Regardless of age, regardless of position, regardless of the business we happen to be in, all of us need to understand the importance of branding ourselves and not our companies.
People are looking for you and your solution, not your business.
Social media, blogs, and forums have created a need and space for people, not companies. You need to naturally engage in these spaces as the brand YOU, not as a distributor of your network marketing company or its products.

Having a team name and mission statement goes hand in hand when branding yourself and your team.
Here are the top three benefits of having a team name:
Your team name and mission statement will help people feel unified and connected. It also brings people together to work as a team for a common goal.
It helps the entire team act as one.
Highly effective teams with one purpose and one goal make progress.
This is why branding your team with a name and creating a mission statement will help your teammates feel as they are connected as one and moving forward.
This is very attractive, especially for a prospect who’s looking at your business. A team who has been branded with a name and a common goal will create more curiosity and magnetism for their prospects.
Let’s face it, we all love to feel like we are a part of something BIG. It’s part of our human nature and it helps us feel like we have a purpose.
Who isn’t interested in being a part of something that’s bigger than themselves?
Think of a concert. Think of how all concert attendees act as one, connecting with hundreds of people they’ve never met … creating a force far bigger than they could achieve by themselves.
By association, they feel they’re a piece of something more significant than they could ever be alone.
When this happens, people get a feeling that they are as big as the effort is.
Another big benefit of having a good team name lies in how it can help you with recruiting and prospecting.
There are ways you can use your team name to create curiosity and interest for your prospects.
When talking to a prospect, you never want to use your companies name when talking about your business and here’s why...
It’s not unique and people can just Google up your company’s name and these days you never know what they will find.
With tens of thousands of network marketing distributors doing the same thing as you - your job is to differentiate yourself from the sea of sameness when it comes to your network marketing business.
Having a team name makes you unique and stand out from the crowd.
It’s also very powerful when someone asks you what you do.
When someone asks you, “What do you do?” You can tell them that you’re a part of a team who is on a mission and tell them what that mission is.
Action steps for this week:
1. Get a team name that rocks dialed in. Create your mission statement even if you’re just a team of one right now.
2. Invest time in learning more about branding. I have some resources below that I recommend.
